On the 25th of Novemeber Sunset and Room 5 went to Maungatautari Ecological Island. This is a place that has been protected to help restore the population of some of New Zealands native endangered birds. Sunset had a fabulous time and learnt heaps about New Zealand's native birds and forestry. Sunset made some new friends which can be found on the island (real ones though!). The types of birds from left to right are: Takahe, Kiwi, Ruru (morepork owl), Kereru (wood pigeon), Tui, and the Piwakaka (fantail).

Maungatautari Ecological island looks really fun! The Tui bird looks like a bird that we have in California it is called the crow. Sunset looked like he was having a good time.

That field trip seemed really cool! The first picture with Sunset posing on the edge of the viewing tower was really cool. that looked like a big jungle or enchanted forest that has grown for years. Like the movie "Tarzan"! Sunsets new friends are really cute, and they are the same "species" as him because they are all stuffed animals! BTW, (by the way) one of my friends named Molly Holt really loves kiwi birds. Those real birds in those two pictures look really cool. They are so beautiful! All of you guys must've had a wonderful time!
