Paterangi School Agricultural Day 2014
Agriculture day is a day at school where people bring their
goats, calves or lambs to enter in competitions. Some of the competitions are
dress-up, leading, obstacle course, calling, and rearing. Many are serious
competitions but dress up is for fun! There are ribbons and trophies for
animals and their owners that do well. You get a red ribbon for first, blue for
second, yellow for third, and green for fourth. The winners from each age group
compete for a special purple championship ribbon with a trophy. It is a proud
achievement to win a purple ribbon and trophy.
There are also other competitions you can enter that are not
including animals. They include flower arrangements, model farms, model
animals, vegetable animals, baking (muffins, pikelets and cupcakes), photos of
your pet, and sand saucer arrangements. There are badges for the best entries,
red for first, blue for second and yellow for third. Check out Sunset with some
of the different competitions.
Many country school s in New Zealand have agriculture day
because it is fun, and many kids get to learn how to raise a calf, lamb or a
goat. This is important because many kids will want to work on farms when they
get older. We spend a lot of time getting everything ready to enter the
competitions but it is worth it because it is a great day.
Sunset had a great time at Ag. Day. Check out all the fun things he did!

ReplyDeleteHi I am Jacqueline! Wow that looked really fun did any of you get first place in any of the events? Where you went was it capacious or was it really small? Was there sundry farm animals there? I wish I were there or if we could do it here! Did the pigs there permeate odor or did it smell pretty clean? If it was smelly I would be melancholy! Well that sounded really fun!
