Adventures
with Daphne and Sunset
On Friday Sunset came home with me, the first thing we
did was go to my tap lessons. Sunset wanted to tap but he was too small to fit
my shoes so he had to watch but he didn’t mind.
On Monday morning Sunset and I were really excited
because we were leaving to go to port Waikato. In port Waikato there was a
beach called Sunset beach. Sunset was very, very excited because he thought
there might have been a statue of him. But when we got there, there was no
statue Sunset felt a little sad. But that’s ok because we collected some shells
and I wrote in the sand. After that we went to the place where we were staying.
On Tuesday morning we had to get ready because we were
going to the Auckland Zoo and Butterfly Creek. When we hopped in the car Sunset
and I were very excited. When we got to the Zoo we got a map of the Zoo and
what way we should go. The first thing we saw was the Porcupine it had a TV
telling us about the Porcupines territory. Next we saw the Red Pandas and the Otters
one of the Red Pandas had a broken neck so it was having surgery. When we saw
the Otters we got to watch them being feed it was really cute. The food that
Otters eat is Shrimp, Crab and Prawns. The next animal we saw was the Tigers
there were two of them. Next we saw the Meerkats one of them was digging a
tunnel then the one digging ran away and another one came out and started
looking around for Hyenas but there weren’t any. We saw other animals to they
were Tasmanian Devils, Alligators, lots of small Monkeys, Seals, Penguins,
Lions and Sunset kissed one of them, Hippos, Flamingos, Rhinos and Elephants.
We also saw Lizards sunset liked the animals that we got to see. But his
favourite one was probably the Tasmanian Devils they are endangered and also they
looked really cool. Next we went to Butterfly Creek. When we got there, there
were Dinosaurs and we took a photo of Sunset in the Dinosaurs mouth. When we
went inside there were loads of fish one of them looked like Nemo he is a Clown
Fish. There was also one that looked like Dory she is a Blue Tang. Next we saw
the Butterflies they kept landing on my head so I shook my head and they would
fly off. Then we saw the big Crocodiles they didn’t move much you couldn’t even
see them breathing. After that we went into the Dinosaur Kingdom we took some
pictures with Sunset then we saw the farm animals. They had lots of Rabbits my
favourite Rabbit was the little grey baby Rabbit. It was cutey cute cute and
fuzzy it was only three weeks old. We also got to pat some of the Rabbits and
the Dog. We also saw Pigs, Chickens, Goats, Sheep and Birds pretty Birds
Rahhhh. While we waited for the small train ride Sunset and I played in the
playground then we went on the train the train was very cool Sunset liked it.
After that we headed back to where we were staying.
On Wednesday Sunset and I were very, very nervous because
we were going on a Ferry out to Waiheke Island but once we got on the Ferry it
was awesome my hair was blowing everywhere. It was a very nice view of Auckland
behind us but when we got to Waiheke Island we couldn’t see Auckland anymore.
It felt kind of strange being on another Island. We got to rent a car for the
day while we were on the Island. We were going to go to the Stony Batter
Tunnels but they were closed so we got to go to lots of bays instead. It was
very, very weird because the air smelt sweet like honey and coffee. But it was
because the farmers have Beehives near the roads under the hills and that why
it smelt so sweet. Some bays were rocky and some bays were sandy. At the bays I
played in the sand and played in the water and also I collected lots of shells.
Sunset and I had an awesome day and wish we could go back again some time. We
had to wait a little bit for the ferry and a lady had told us there was a
Stingray by the docks Daddy and I and Sunset tried to spot it but didn’t see
it. When we left I missed Waiheke Island we got to watch the sunset from the
Ferry as we came back to Auckland. We also got to see three war ships docked at
the harbour in Auckland they looked pretty cool. When we got off the ferry we
went up Mount Eden, which used to be a Volcano but is now extinct. I got to see
all the lights of Auckland. It was so amazing and such a new experience seeing
so many lights they just went on forever. After that we went back to where we
were staying.
On Thursday Sunset and I were really excited because we
were going to Kelly Tarltons, The Auckland Museum and the Kite Kite Falls out at
Piha. First we went to Kelly Tarltons we saw some people getting up close with
the Penguins and we got to see three baby Penguins Sunset liked seeing all the
fish and so did I my favourite was the Stingray I got a new friend from the
shop and named her snowy. Next we went to the Museum. At the Museum we got to
see Gallipoli in Minecraft and there were blocks everywhere and they had funky
goggles that you use to explore Gallipoli in Minecraft. It was totally cool.
After that we went into the library and read for a bit then went and looked
around the museum for a bit and checked out the old Auckland exhibit. After
that we drove to Kite Kite Falls, it took for ever to walk the track and back
again. But it was worth it to see the beautiful waterfalls. After that we drove
back to Auckland because we still had to go to the Stardome Observatory. There
was a gravity well and lots of other space and rocket stuff on the walls we
took a photo of Sunset as an astronaut he looked funny. Then we went into the
planetarium and watched a movie about the stars, the planets and a
constellation named Matariki and I thought it was amazing. It was pretty late
after that so we went back to where we were staying.
On Friday we had to pack up all our stuff because we were
going home at the end of the day. First we went out to the Manukau Heads
Lighthouse and it was really windy out there. My hair was blowing everywhere. I
liked the Lighthouse but I didn’t like standing on the balcony because I am
afraid of heights Sunset liked the view but didn’t like the wind. After that we
had to drive all the way back to Auckland. We went Ice Skating it was my first ever.
Sunset had to stay in my jersey hood because I couldn’t hold on to him I had to
hold on to the frame. Ice Skating was a little bit scary but once you get used
to it its really fun. But it wasn’t fun when I feel over. I really enjoyed
having fun with Sunset and hope I can go on another adventure with him. The End.
Auckland at night time.
Sunset had a great time in Auckland. Look at all the amazing things we did.

Wow, Daphne, what an amazing adventure for Sunset to experience. I am sure Sunset got over his disappointment about not having a statue at Sunset beach after all the fun he had. Did you know that people travel from all over the world to experience the fun you had in Auckland. You have written a fabulous recount of your adventure Daphne.
